It's true that at Newmarket is a sports venue - home to soccer's Brisbane City football club and its 3000 seat grandstand. However, it is the adjoining shared pathway and Enoggera Creek bikeway along the edge of the creek of the same name that caught my attention.

There are multiple entry points to via Market Street and Newberry Street. I chose to start my adventure from Ruby Street with pooch in toe. During our walk along the quiet bikeway and the 6.8 hectares of , we come across fitness equipment on the grassy lawns including chin up bars for the energetic. There was certainly a healthy stream of runners, walkers and cyclists passing us on our mid morning wander.



The pathway is shaded by an abundance of mature trees to home the local natural wildlife. We even spotted a "willy wagtail" bird resting on the lawn.



A playground with slides and climbing equipment is available at the end of the path for adventurous kids and a bridge over the creek to connect neighbouring suburbs.



All this and is only approximately 2.5 kms from the centre of Brisbane.
