Got a great community or environmental idea but no funding?
This fantastic event is all about initiative, environment and sustainable ideas. Do you have a great idea to help the environment, aide the disadvantaged or build sustainable communities, but you're yet to take it to the next level? Or maybe you have a promising not-for-profit idea or a business plan to make money in an environmentally responsible way but you need startup cash?
SpeedSeed is not quite what it sounds - it's not conventional speed dating. Most of us know about the concept of speed dating - spend a few minutes with each person of the opposite sex in a room full of people and see whether you like them enough to want to get to know them more.
SpeedSeed is about speed-dating to match entrepreneurs with socially conscious businesses and high energy idea-people with the right funding! Spend a few minutes at a time with likeminded people pitching your idea, or listening to ideas with a view to supportive funding. Rather than romantic matchmaking it's all about matching social and environmental entrepreneurs and supporters.
Funded by the Brisbane City Council, the aim of SpeedSeed is to join together investors and resources with community groups and people wanting to create environmental change in order to bridge the social gap between businesses and people on the ground.
If you're interested or know someone who might be, go to the website and check out the full detail.
SpeedSeed advise that this initiative will suit people with project ideas or startups that are brimming with real goodness! Project ideas or start up social/environmental enterprises must demonstrate that they align with one or more of The GOODNESS Inc's values:
Respect ourselves, others and future generations Replenish the Earth
Give more than we take Commit to the global goodness Listen actively and learn from other cultures
And don't forget, you don't have to be the ideas person. Whether you have a few hundred dollars or wish to invest big money, or even if you just have some time to give, SpeedSeed are looking for you. Donors and investors who are seeking to co-create the change they want to see in the world by supporting good, ethical, grassroots projects and enterprise.
Alongside the obvious benefits of getting good ideas off the ground to support community and environmental projects, this evening is a great way to meet new people and likeminded members of the community and foster neighbourhood involvement.
This wonderful ground-breaking event will be held on 22 May at Wandering Cooks, South Brisbane, with another two events planned for later in the year.
Registration and further details are available on the website and places are limited! Bookings are essential to ensure you're put into the right group for the mutual benefit of all on the night.
