Speed Crafting

Have you ever said to yourself: "Wish I knew how to crochet. Or perhaps even how to knit or embroider?"
They are lost arts, no longer passed down to the next generation.
But there is a great way to be introduced to these crafts and that is through an innovative session called Speed Crafting.
It is a bit like speed dating but with this one you may well find a companion worth going home with.
The kind you can snuggle up on the couch with while you watch TV.
You move between the three different pastimes. During the knitting stint you learn the basics and start on a skinny spring scarf, for crochet you make a chain necklace, in the third session you begin an embroidery patch.
It is very laid back and friendly more like a girlfriend teaching you and a few friends.
There is the usual chime to let you know when you need to move on to the next activity with time in between to eat and mingle. You get roughly an hour for each activity.
There is also a mini craft market on at the same time where you can see the creative pieces of expert makers from the renowned North Melbourne Market. Something to aspire to.
Or if you are not doing the sessions you can visit this Mini Market for Free between 12:30pm and 5:30pm
And don't worry if you don't get your creative pieces finished before you go home; as they don't just leave you in the lurch.
You are given a set of clear instructions on how to finish the pieces off at home.
This event is presented by Thread Den a sewing lounge which runs craft classes, dressmaking projects and vintage glamour workshops. They have joined with North Melbourne Market, for this special treat.
Sounds great if you are looking for something a little different to do. What a great concept.
