Running from the 23rd to the 25th of November at the Substation in Newport is the Fluorophone, a contemporary musical performance that mixes light and sound. This remarkable performance is further enhanced by the post-industrial space in which it is performed in.
Flurophone is divided into five different pieces composed by both leading Australian and Danish composers. They are all unique pieces and all of the composers incorporate noise, music and instrumentalism into their pieces while also using fluorescent lights, naked flames, strobe lights and LEDs. This leads to five very enjoyable performances, all of which are cutting edge in nature with their synesthetic joining of sound and also light into each piece.
