For my birthday, I was spoilt by strangers
My friend had asked me out for my birthday dinner and as she had just moved in to a new house three days before, she wanted to try a local restaurant. How lucky was I.
She booked at 'the ' in Seaford and I am so very glad she did, it was delightful. When we arrived every table had a name tag reservation which I immediately noted. It is small but this was just a wet Thursday night! Don't be deceived!
We were greeted with enthusiasm and welcome, then seated. The hostess even embraced my poor attempts of Spanish conversation - "Hola"
Our orders were taken, with suggestions for the specials board, choosing the dips to start and a carafe of Sangria. So refreshing and very drinkable.
On reading the menu, you learn that everything they offer is fresh and made there. For that reason they sometimes run out of menu items, which would be disappointing, but fortunately didn't affect us.
Four varieties of dips arrived. Just delicious with chunks of beetroot, grassy flavoured olives and toasted bread. The stand out was balsamic onion - so creamy!
Look up! There are things on the ceiling you should take notice of!
Our pizza to share was delivered promptly on a rustic wooden board. Fluffy base and fresh toppings, so very tasty.
One of the hostesses came to chat with us, sharing their family values and hopes to expand with an outdoor area by the summer and we hope this goes well for them. In conversation my friend mentioned it was my birthday and the hostess expressed her best wishes.
For dessert we had already decided on the churros with chocolate salsa but we were persuaded to have another to share. I was taken to the display refrigerator and tempted by all the offerings. I decided on the lemon tart - ensuring it was a tart tart.
It arrived along with birthday complimentary glasses of a beautiful Spanish sherry. How perfect!
The Lemon Tart was divine and while we we were savouring it, the musician, who had been playing in the background all evening, played 'Happy Birthday' to me! You couldn't wipe the smile from my face. He was so cute. Then our churros arrived... Heaven!
We moved to the comfy couch to free up our table and just sat and chatted for ages. It was such a comfortable environment.
In summary this was a restaurant that felt really good from start to finish. Can't wait to go back when the doors are open wide and the vibe spreads out al fresco
'' will definitely be a 'gotta go back' venue.
There is more parking at the back of the restaurant.
