Walk down Gouger Street and you will find a strikingly yellow-painted establishment that is adorned in elements reminiscent of a tiki bar.
Owned by
Lauro Siliquini and
Enzo Verdino (who are well-known for other similar ventures including Ruby Red Flamingo, Coccobello, Tony Tomatoes, and L'Italy), Spaghetti Island's menu bursts with over 12 options of freshly-made pasta (including gluten-free and coeliac-friendly options), each with a distinct characteristic that will make your taste buds tingle with anticipation and excitement.
Formerly known as Spaghetti Crab,
Spaghetti Island has recently launched their bright and sunkissed restaurant and bar that offers customers with a range of interesting options of pasta that can be paired with their refreshing selection of wines and cocktails to help you escape into a tropical setting (even if it's only for the evening). Makeshift palm trees, disco balls, and dancing stick figures bring the indoors to lush life while being complemented by plants and shrubbery that are carefully sprawled across the space.

On this particular visit, my friend and I opted for three of their pasta dishes. We had:
Island Time Ragu, which is served with slow-cooked beef Ragu, onion, and red wine
Midnight Marinara, which is served with Squid ink pasta, vongole, prawns, scallops, garlic, chilli, and cherry tomatoes
Ruby Red, which is served with roast beetroot pesto, thyme, pecorino cheese, and burrata
In addition to sharing these pasta dishes with a friend, we found that this particular selection offered us with versatile ways of enjoying the classic pasta dish. Each dish bursts with flavour and character, in addition to providing appeal with being cooked in brilliant 'al dente' style. It also revitalises the way traditional pasta is made, by pushing the boundaries with its combination of ingredients that certainly make for an interesting and appetising feast for all.

For drinks, the
Blood Orange Daiquiri was a drink that simply could not be overlooked. Made with White rum, lime, blood orange, this is a refreshing drink that not only looks pretty but tastes like summer in a drink. In addition to that, they also have a grand selection of vinos, including Hustle and Vine, Alpha Box and Dice, along with beers and cocktails to tick off your after work-drinks fix.

Ruby Red, Midnight Marinara, Island Time Ragu - the pasta-bilities are endless! So what are you waiting for? Go and spa-ghet-ti your hands on some seriously yummy (not to mention affordable) pasta dishes. Expect to roll yourselves outta here, because whether you enjoy a meal solo, with friends, and/or family, you ~will~ dive into a (deeply satisfying) food coma.
Spaghetti Island is located at 138 Gouger Street and is open Tuesday - Saturday for dinner. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
