Be at the very first annual Space2b Laneway Festival from 10am - 3pm on Sunday 25th of March. This event aims to deliver fun and entertainment along and to raise awareness about the great service that Space2b provides refugees and their families.
The festival will include "Meet Me at the Market" featuring over 20 stalls of Australian designed products and gifts. There will be a variety of delicious international foods and world music to delight in. Connect with artists and designers who come from all over the world and are calling Australia home.
Have you ever wondered how African women wrap their gorgeous headgear? Here is your chance to learn how it's done and have your very own. Nehanda and Watiri will talk about this traditional art, different textiles and different styles of head Wraps. Feel free to bring your own special scarf.
Imagining Laneways - Art Exhibition Free
For months now, 6 artists have been working to transform the formerly-drab laneway with gorgeous murals - a mix of local indigenous work and brilliant cultural patterns from around the world. The exhibition will be a group exhibition of these artists, from Iraq, Iran, India, UK, Pakistan and Indigenous Australia.
Fashion Show 'United Threads' Cost $15 1.30pm-2.30pm
A fashion show of culturally-inspired outfits lovingly created by established designers and everyday people who love to create.
Face Painting and Henna Art 10-1pm
Iranian & Iraqi artists Elena and Nidhal will help you to 'Get Striped' for diversity, acceptance and respect by turning you into wonderful stripy creatures. Sarika will create the most beautiful traditional Indian temporary tattoos out of Henna dye.
Space2b Laneway Festival will be held in the laneway behind Space2b at 144 Chapel Street in Balaclava, St Kilda.
