Experience the joy of soy
Do you love the fragment aroma of scented candles? Would like to have one in almost every room of your house, but baulk at the cost?

candle shop
The candle shop.

The answer is simple; make your own. Soy Candles in Boronia is the place to go to begin in that endeavour. They can supply all you need, not only to make your own candles, but it could be the beginning of a very aromatic hobby.

The sign says it all.

A starter kit would be your introduction to candle making. The four items needed to make a soy candle are, soy flakes, a wick, fragrance and a container to hold the candle. Ingredients for starter kits are custom selected depending on how many candles you wish to make, the size of the wick and the container. Soy Candles can supply glass containers, or you can even use a jam jar.

Strawberry & Champagne, Apples & Mint, Lemon Grass and Kakadu Plum are four of numerous fragrances available. I declined the offer to count how many different ones there were, but an estimate of well over one hundred would not be wrong.

Even more.

Soy Candles is owned by Mike who has been dispensing candle making supplies from his Boronia shop for fifteen years.

While I was in the shop a customer came in to buy some supplies. Much to their pleasure, Mike imparted some practical knowledge to them to assist in their candle making.

All this and more.

He also holds classes in the art of candle making, an easy way to learn the craft.

A large range of extras are available.

Soy wax is fast becoming the preferred wax used to make candles due to its many superior qualities including non-toxic, burns clean and even, strong scent and throw, biodegradable and long burn time.

Candles to go.

Once you have mastered the art of candle making, you have at your fingertips the ability to make a unique gift for family and friends. How thrilled would your favourite niece be receiving a coffee mug, with her name printed on it as an aromatic candle!

More than just candle ingredients.

Also available are all-natural goat's milk products, including goat's milk soap.

Soy Candles is one of those rare shops these days, catering for those that want to do it themselves, rather than just buy a finished product.

On a plaque in the shop is a saying that Confucius would be proud of. "It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness."

Chinese saying.
A good saying.

May the light be with you.

I wish I could visit Melbourne. While I am woking from home I have a candle burning all day on my desk. I am getting through them at a rapid pace!
