Escape the city to the countryside with these drives
From cascading waterfalls to fresh crisp country air and valleys as far as the eye can see, Southern Highlands tempts you to be part of its idyllic world, and isn't it about time you experience this spectacular part of New South Wales?

Southern Highlands is an absolute must see!


Located midway between Sydney and Canberra, Southern Highlands is known for its cool temperate climate and low humidity levels, making it the ultimate tourist drive experience.

There are many scenic countryside views on all the drives below to admire.


Along the way on the Tourist Drives you will discover attractions, rural vistas, quaint villages, wildlife, wineries and historic sites, making the list below of Southern Highland Tourist Drives a must add to the bucket list. There is an experience for everyone to enjoy.



Tourist Drive 14: Mittagong> Sutton Forest Via Moss Vale (28km)
This Tourist Drive commences once you leave the F5 Expressway. The road straightens as you come through the village of Braemar, continuing into Mittagong past the Highlands Golf Club and Mittagong Caravan Park, from here you will see the Southern Highlands Visitor Information Centre on your left, as you come into town.

Lake Alexandria at Mittagong is must attractions to see.

Tourist Drive 15: Bowral>Moss Vale Via Robertson & Fitzroy Falls (63km)
To really do this drive justice, you must leave early and allow plenty of time to immerse yourself in the beauty and to have enough time to fit everything in.
Heading east from Kangaloon Road roundabout in Bowral, pass Horderns Road to Milton Park on your left and then Bong Bong Racetrack can be found on your right, continue until you reach the Kangaloon Road intersection, turning left and follow the road along till you find Wingecarribee Reservoir- which is a perfect picnic area stop.

Hidden gems can be discovered on the drives - keep an eye out!

Tourist Drive 16: Sutton Forest> Goulburn Via Bundanoon (75km)
Begin the drive at Sutton Forest to Exeter, where you witness some of the best picturesque countryside with rolling green hills and pastureland on both sides of the road. Exeter village is where you can see a fine example of an English style stone church and many beautiful private estates.

Stunning bushland surrounds the endless valleys and hinterlands.

- Cycling Tracks - hire a bicycle in Bundanoon
- Morton National Park & Glow Worm Glen
- Roadside produce stalls around Penrose
- Exeter Village with its Gallery Ecosse & The General Store.

A visit to the historic General Store for 'the worlds best pies' is certainly one stop you do not want to miss!


Tourist Drive 17: Mittagong> Moss Vale Via Berrima (24km)
This Tourist Drive commences in Mittagong. The Southern Highlands Welcome Centre is located here and you will find a wide range of souvenirs, maps and local produce. Just down the road, you will find Winifred West Park which offers picnic & toilet facilities as well as a playground.

Farmland with surround breathtaking valleys surround the Southern Highland Drives.

- Local Wineries & Cellar Doors
- The Moss Vale Saleyards
- The Fitz Roy Iron Works Historic Site
- The National Trust's Harper's Mansion

- Historic Berrima village and its craft shops and galleries.
