Livingstone Shire Council is seeking feedback from the community and stakeholder groups to determine if there is support regarding vehicle access on the Shire's southern beaches, in particular Ritamada, Timbers Beach Zilzie and Long Beach Joskeleigh.
Under the current local law, driving on any beach, other than Farnborough Beach, north of Hinz Avenue, is prohibited, however certain beaches permit access for the purpose of launching and retrieving a boat.
Please access the survey
here to give your voice about this matter. Council will collate the feedback and there is an opportunity for residents to indicate if they are interested in being a member of a '
Southern Beach Reference Group' if the reference group is to be formed. The group then would be entrusted with the responsibility of providing recommendations to the council, about potential vehicle usage on these unpopulated beaches in order to improve livability around Livingstone Shire and give more recreational appeal to both residents and visitors at the southern end of the Capricorn Coast.
Consultation closes on Sunday 5 February 2023. For more information, please visit Livingstone Shire Council
website. Please be aware that only feedback provided via the survey will be formally considered.
