Southbank Little Days Out – Term 1 2016
What do soccer, ballet and beach craft have in common? They are just some of the activities planned for
Southbank's Little Days Out program this term.
Every Thursday morning, recommencing on February 4th, there is an activity in our beautiful Southbank parklands. And even better – all are free. Activities and workshops are designed for children under school age (5 years and younger) and are held in various venues and parkland around Southbank from 9am – 1pm.
The workshops help little ones develop gross motor skills through lessons in rugby, soccer, or dance and their fine motor skills through the varied craft workshops. All activities engage imagination, movement and creativity – something young children are so good at and enjoy so much.
The program kicks off with
Boppin' Babies on 4th February, which is a fun, music-based program for children of all pre-school ages, to make music, explore musical instruments, sing along, dance and perhaps even learn some new songs.
After
Boppin' Babies on the 4th, February sees a
Summer play date with beach stories and craft at Picnic Island Green on 11th, followed by
Ginger Sport Workshop on the 18th. The February program rounds out with
Bazil Grumble's Going on a Bear Hunt Story time on the 25th at the Arbour View Cafe Lawns. Bring your teddy along and take part in a variety of fun (and always very energetic) games.
March continues with
Rugbytots Workshops on the 3rd and
Under the Sea craft with Reverse Garbage on the 10th. On the 17th March at Little Stanley Street Lawns, Queensland Ballet will hold a workshop known as
Twinkletoes , where children are encouraged to explore their imaginations and the connections between their joyful, natural movement and music. Bazil Grumble's Easter Extravaganza rounds out March and finishes the term on the 24th March.
As if the Thursday play dates weren't enough, Southbank are also holding a Special Weekend Event. On 12th and 13th March, the Little Stanley Street Lawns will host Little Science Days Out from 9am – 3pm, tying nicely with the World Science Festival on at the same time.
There's no need to book or register your interest and all activities and workshops are completely free. Participation throughout the whole morning is not required – you can come and go as you please and as suits your little ones. All you have to do is grab the kids and head along for your Little Days Out
