This is an inaugural Yoga Festival Event and it will attract many excellent yoga teachers from around the state. I believe that yoga is Australia's fastest-growing sporting/fitness activity, with its popularity doubling since 2008. More than two million Australians practise this ancient form of well being and exercise and pose as a cat, cow, crow, lion, warrior and downward-facing dog!
Yoga festivals are therefore becoming an "in thing" throughout the state - many of these are part workshop, part yoga party - a yoga festival is just the place to enjoy practising and have fun. And this one will be especially beneficial and relaxing, as it is being held out of the city. There will also be music and well-being, market stalls and more and all in the serenity of the South West of Western Australia!
The South West Yoga Fest invites yoga lovers, dancers, music lovers and spirituality seekers from all corners of the country, and here, you can inspire each other and enjoy your time in the South West. The South West Yoga Fest will be offering yoga sessions from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm, as well as drumming, music, good food, along with several workshops and styles of yoga such as:
Hatha
Vinyasa
Yin
Kundalini
Karma flow
and many more.
All levels of yoga will be catered for here and there will be a huge variety of classes with an exciting array of well-known instructors from around Western Australia and overseas. Some of these instructors include:
Tara Hawken who teaches people to achieve a "balanced, healthy lifestyle". Tara runs an "Achieving a Balanced, Healthy Lifestyle - Wellness" talk and in this Tara will explain ways to help you with food, relationships, fitness, career, social life, education, creativity and mental health in a holistic way.
Tara is an experienced practitioner who helps others through healthy journeys as Tara herself is a cancer survivor.
Amanda is from her Rockingham Yoga Studio "Soul Coast Yoga"'. Amanda loves travelling, surfing and anything "soulful".
Amanda is offering Classical Kundalini at the Yoga Fest – a journey into "awakening the heart chakra". This practice integrates postures, oscillating movements, tantric bija mantra and pranayama techniques.
Shelley was trained in Purna yoga which means "complete", and the class she will teach on is Complete Vinyasa Flow, integrating all aspects of yoga to provide the tools for general well-being.
The practice is suitable for all levels and will help you feel a sense of peace and calm.
Sara Evans is the owner of Bloom Yoga Room in Duncraig, and Sara is offering "Discover the Peaceful Practice of Yoga Nidra". You will go into a deep relaxation as Sara guides you through this yoga method, and you will experience "Yogic Sleep".
Ed Donato is the founder and host of "TheEdTalks.com" and Ed interviews experts from all over the world to learn how we can realistically stop feeling tired, regain our energy and achieve health and happiness.
Ed is also part owner and head chef of holistic food company "Guilt Free Foodie", and he also devises online courses in stress reduction. Ed will be the MC at the South West Yoga Fest and will also give a talk on "The Stress-Free Method" which is a must hear talk.
Also at this event, you can go to all day Essential Oil Workshops which are part of the admission ticket. These will be presented by Marie-Elise, who will be offering 6 different workshops in the Doterra tent. Each one will discuss different oils and their uses as well as their benefits.
Presented by Starr Light Yoga, part proceeds from this event will go to the Zenergy School Programme, which will provide yoga mats, classes and workshops at local schools for both students and teachers.
