South West Road Trip Essentials

In October and November of 2017 Jot and I spent 8 weeks exploring the south west coast of WA. We liked it so much that in March we did it all over again.
Here are some of the things not to be missed on a south coast road trip. Be warned, a lot of it is food.
In no particular order:
1. Esperance - camp in Cape Le Grand National Park and spend a few days hiking and strolling along the white sandy beaches.
2. Margaret River Bakery - Get the caramelized onion and mushroom slice.
3. Denmark - Try the freshly made ice cream at Elephant Rocks Cidery.
4. Pemberton - Climb the 63 metre tree to check out the view of the forest tops from the old bushfire look out.
5. Denmark - swim in the ocean at Green Pools then say hi to the Elephant Rocks.
6. Margaret River - make sure you are there for market day and have a wander around trying fresh produce and stocking up on delicious treats for a picnic lunch. Make sure you get some figs and garlic butter.
7. Mandurah - hire a little boat and take a self-sail tour of the canals and waterways. If you're lucky there'll be some dolphins hanging out there too.
8. Bunbury - With so many cute cafes, restaurants and hotels to choose from treat yourself to a night out.
9. Bussleton - take the train or stroll to the end of the 2.5 kilometre jetty to see into the ocean at the underwater aquarium. You can snorkel at the end if you are feeling brave.
10. Gnomesville - because it has to be seen to be believed.
11. Porongurup - climb Castle Rock. It is hard work but the view is worth it. Sadly, there isn't a slide to get you back down to the car park.
Enjoy your roadtrip!
