Catch the Music of George Michael and Wham at this Concert
South Perth Sounds was formerly known as the Fiesta Concert and is the City's annual community concert.

Over summer, the South Perth City will come alive with a host of arts, events and cultural activities including:

the launch of permanent and temporary public art installations
a selection of City and community hosted events
food trucks
free pop-up activities

Following their sell-out performance in 2017 at the Astor, which received rave reviews, Perth Symphony Orchestra and the WAAPA Gospel Choir come together again for the much-anticipated return of "Faith & Freedom": the music of George Michael.

The Perth Symphony Orchestra will be supported by renowned Perth comedy hypnotist, Matt Hale, who will perform a hilarious interactive show in which the audience members are the stars!

The event will also feature children's activities, roving entertainment, art, gourmet food vendors and a spectacular fireworks display to conclude the evening.

You will be able to listen to your favourite George Michael and WHAM songs with a fresh orchestral twist - be prepared to sing and dance the night away!

South Perth Sounds will return to Sir James Mitchell Park on the South Perth foreshore on Saturday 24th February, 2018.

George Michael, who was often seen with aviator shades, trimmed beard, and a cross earring, is the man with the voice who brought "soul to the pop world".

This will be a unique evening celebrating the outstanding array of works by George Michael, while collaborating with some of WA's leading performers.

The works of George Michael will be re-done with the aim of taking the audience on a remarkable journey of emotions in a 90-minute show that sheds a new light on some of the best-loved songs from 'Faith' to 'Careless Whisper', 'Freedom' and 'I'm Your Man'.

Bring your friends and family, wear your aviator shades, pack a picnic dinner, all while you enjoy an evening of your favourite George Michael and WHAM songs. These will be performed in a new, unique way by Perth Symphony's strings, drums and percussion.

The Mayor of South Perth, Sue Doherty said "The City's annual summer concert is one of the highlights of the year."

The Mayor goes on to say "Wear your dancing shoes and be prepared to sing and dance the night away as this concert will be a joyous celebration. A much-loved and annual fixture on the City's cultural calendar, it will once again include a family activity area and gourmet food village, with the evening concluding with a spectacular fireworks display launched from the Swan River."

Since 1994, the City of South Perth has hosted headline acts such as Marina Prior, The Wiggles, The Black Sorrows, Joe Camilleri, Wendy Matthews, Paul Kelly, Ian Moss, James Morrison, just to name a few!

This event coincides with the Commonwealth Games Queen's Baton Relay through South Perth, and this adds to the excitement of the day. The Queen's Baton carries a message from Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II that "calls the Commonwealth's athletes to come together in peaceful and friendly competition".

The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation has announced the baton-bearers who will carry the Queen's Baton during the 100-day countdown to the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

You can see more about the Baton here.

Locally, there will be hundreds of people who will get the opportunity to "engage" with the Baton as it is in our region, and it arrives in South Perth on 24th February, 2018 - the day of the Concert!

The PSO will be collaborating with WAAPA GOSPEL CHOIR in this amazing show and there will be excellent talent performing here, with duets that saw George Michael perform with the likes of Aretha Franklin and Elton John - it will be one not to be missed!

Gospel Choir, led by Matt Allen, Head of Contemporary Voice at WAAPA. The evening showcases WA's incredible talent brought together for the first time in concert. Joining Matt will be members of the Gospel Choir for duets
