Absorb the trendy atmosphere of the South Melbourne Market
Amongst the close knit community of South Melbourne is the much loved South Melbourne Market with its surrounding cafes and independent retailers. The market is either a 5 minute drive,15 minute walk or 15 minute tram ride from Melbourne CBD. The market itself is located on the corner of Coventry & Cecil street and the 96 tram also stops outside the market.

The South Melbourne Market is indoor, wheelchair accessible and has free rooftop parking for the first two hours of shopping. The time spent exploring the market can take anywhere from an hour to half a day if you decide to stop and enjoy some good coffee and a bit of food in between browsing.

Amongst the variety of stalls to explore are the standard fresh fruit & veg, meats and seafood stalls that accompany most markets. Then after the food and drink have been explored there's clothing, books, crafts, home-wears and even personal grooming and massages to consider in addition to hair dressing and even eye-brow threading.

As well as the wide array of stalls, the market also has a cooking school plus a night market in summer and on the weekends live music is often playing to entertain the large volume of visitors.

The trading hours for the market are as follows:

Wednesday 08.00 - 16.00
Friday 08.00 - 17.00
Saturday 08.00 - 1600
Sunday 08.00 - 16.00

To make the most of this market, it's always good to get there early, although people are known to arrive one hour before closing when the fresh meats, seafood, fruit & veg are heavily discounted.
