The good news is that the South Melbourne Market is OPEN AS USUAL. Situated at the corner of Cecil and Coventry Streets, South Melbourne, trading hours are from 8am to 4pm on Wed, Fri, Sat & Sun, with Friday enjoying an hour longer trading till 5pm. However, keeping in mind the pandemic we are facing, without an end in sight yet, and due to the most recent government bans, we all still need to err on the side of caution. It goes without saying, if you are experiencing symptoms, have a cough or cold, have been overseas in the past 14 days or have been directed to self-isolate, please keep away and stay home.

That means, continue to be vigilant and take all the necessary safety and health precautions. Use the complimentary hand sanitiser provided at the Market and practice good hygiene and avoid close contact with others. Don't throw caution to the wind and let loose in a huge group of family and friends and use this small freedom we have as an opportunity to escape from being cooped up in isolation. If we don't use common sense and start flooding the market, there is no doubt the government will step in, so let's not let this one go as well, shall we.

None of us want to put our families and others in danger, and all of us wants this nightmare to go away, so let's buckle down, and head into the market in small numbers per family, get what we need and get out of there. Keep in mind that no one wants to be handling cash touched by who knows whom so be prepared for cashless transactions. With the ban on cafes and restaurants, chairs and tables have been removed from the Market Food Hall and Cecil Street Restaurant Precinct. Only takeaway or delivery options are being provided by cafes and restaurants at the Market.

For those who cannot get to the Market or don't want to, you can still shop from your favourite Market traders through Order and Collect and Delivery Services. Please follow the links given for more detailed information. Check the website weekly to make sure these same services are still on offer the following week, as things could change abruptly.

For Order and Collect, find the full list of participating traders HERE. For a list of available products, visit the stallholder's website or contact them for more info. To shop, simply contact your favourite trader, place your order and pay NOW. Most traders will cease taking orders midday Wednesday 25 Mar 2020 unless otherwise stated by the individual trader. Pick up from the York Street Carpark this Thursday 26 Mar 2020 between 2pm and 7pm. You don't even need to get out of your car.

For Delivery Services, CHECK HERE for participating traders, their individual methods for contact, delivery costs and so on. If your favourite trader is not listed, be sure to check with them directly as many of them offer delivery by request.
