Looking for private little beach to hang out? Camp Cove Beach in Watson's Bay is an excellent option for a small family or group of friends looking for a quiet spot to hang out on a weekday or weekend. Right in the heart of Sydney, this little secret offers a fantastic view of the City landscape as well as turquoise blue waters and plenty of soft yellow white sand to unwind and relax..

Avoid the crowds at some of Sydney's more famous and bigger beaches and bring your friends and kids for a morning or afternoon to play in the sand and swim, snorkel, dive or sunbathe. Surrounded by quiet residential streets, it's a stones throw from The Gap, an amazing place to see some the cliff edges and shorelines along the Tasman Sea.

Whilst Camp Cove Beach might be small, it is also family friendly and wheelchair and stroller friendly, with restrooms located right at one end of the beach. There are also cafés, restaurants and other amnesties nearby around Robertson Park and the Gap.

For those who love a bit of a walk and Australian history, the South Head Heritage Trail is perfect. It starts at the end of Camp Cove Beach at the top of the stairs near the rest rooms and continues to highlight some of the amazing lookouts over the ocean as you walk along the path.

The entrance to Lady Bay Beach also comes off from the trail down some stairs - you may spot the occasional fisherman, or if you're into the nudist thing then that's also a possibility... Although fishing is also allowed in these areas, due to the high level of dioxins certain fish are not to be eaten above a certain amount, particularly those caught east of the harbour bridge. Furthermore, some fish are not to be caught at all and must be released immediately. You will find a board stating all this information in detail at the beginning of the trail.

What's more, you will find historical landmarks such as the lighthouse, the lighthouse keepers cottage which later became a military residence, and other monuments that are marked and signposted so you can read all about the first English ships, the shipwreck and the captains sole survival plus a lot more.

Great walk for budding photographers or those who just enjoy being outdoors. Best of all, it's free!
