Confucius (551-479 BC) was a philosopher, educator and man of world culture.

The Confucius statue was donated to the people of Queensland by the People's Republic of China in 2009, in celebration of Queensland's 150th birthday.

It presides over the peaceful setting and pond at The Formal Gardens, in South Bank's Parklands.
