Home to spectacular natural wonders, South Australia's south east has much to offer as a region. Its massive volcanic crater, underground garden oasis and prehistoric caves are simply jaw-dropping. What's more, there are white sandy beaches, lush vineyards and over forty stunning cellar doors too.

A six-day tour of the south east region led by Workers' Educational Association allows you to discover these treasures in fully escorted comfort. No driving or looking up where to go as Victor Costi, your tour leader, would have organised all that. You will be staying in twin-share motel accommodation with breakfast and dinner provided each day. The cost is $1995 per person which also includes touring notes. Bookings can be made via their website .

Departing Adelaide on the 22nd of February 2021, your initial stop will be Goolwa where a beautiful four-hour Spirit of the Coorong cruise awaits you. The cruise takes you along sheltered waterways to ancient sites of the Ngarrindjeri people within the pristine and breathtaking Coorong National Park. Disembarking at Long Point, you then head by coach towards Jack Point Pelican Observatory , Salt Creek, Chinaman's Well and The Granites. Your first overnight stay will be at Kingston SE , which is well known for The Big Lobster and Cape Jaffa Lighthouse .

Day two brings you to Robe to see the iconic pyramid-like Obelisk structure. You also have some free time to explore this lovely idyllic town before boarding the coach once again. Next stop will be the picturesque township of Beachport and then Tantanoola Caves Conservation Park where you visit a cave with magnificent stalactites and stalagmites. On arrival at Mount Gambier, you check in for two nights.

In the morning, your tour of the thriving regional centre includes the vividly cobalt-blue Blue Lake and the remarkable Umpherston Sinkhole. Then, it's a short drive to Port Macdonnell where you will be surprised to find a German mine in front of the old customs house. A visit to the nearby Cape Northumberland, South Australia's southernmost point, is next on the agenda. Thereafter, your return journey to Mount Gambier will be pleasantly interrupted by a stopover at the unique Mount Schank .

Day four begins with a visit to the historic Glencoe Woolshed before continuing along Riddoch Highway to Penola, the place Saint Mary MacKillop called home. Here, lunchtime is for you to spend at your leisure, so why not enjoy the historical charm of Petticoat Lane and its original cottages and gardens. Be sure to stop by Sharam Cottages to avail yourself of the fresh herb garden produce in exchange for a fair-price donation. Next stop will be Naracoorte where you again check in for two nights.

After a good night's sleep, you visit the world heritage listed Victoria Fossil Cave and Wonambi Fossil Centre at Naracoorte Caves National Park. Should you have some extra time, do check out the above-ground Roof Top Loop Walk walking trail which is dotted with many interpretive signage and viewing platforms. Then, it's time for a private wine tasting, plus cheese platters, at the famed Wynns Coonawarra Estate.

Your journey back to Adelaide on the last day will be via Bordertown where you tour the Clayton Farm Heritage Museum and visit the White Kangaroos Wildlife Park. As the birthplace of Prime Minister Bob Hawke, much is to be seen around town too including the house where he was born and a museum showcasing his memorabilia.
