Goolwa is a town that celebrates its coastal location, love of water vessels; heritage buildings and the old wharf area. The Goolwa wooden boat festival combines all these in a weekend biannual festival. The festival takes place on February 21st and 22nd of February. The entry fee for the 2015 Festival will be $10 for an adult weekend pass. Children 15 and under can enter free of charge, making this a weekend for the whole family to enjoy.

The Goolwa Wooden Boat festival began in 1989. Each festival has seen the rare sight of steam trains and steamboats in close range. As the SteamRanger railway tracks along the coast by the wharf, where steamboats also collect passengers.

The festival has wooden boats of all shapes and sizes. There's also music, arts and maritime craft workshops, boat building, paddle steamer and steam train rides. There is plenty of food and wine and local beer to try. The Goolwa Wharf is also home to the very popular cafe Hectors on the Wharf .

The craftsmanship in building a wooden boat is on show at the festival. The colours and contours of the wooden boats an art form in themselves. There is even a raffle to win your very own wooden boat. For those with their own fantasies of fishing and boating. Stay on land or venture out on a paddle steamer. Enjoy the sounds and sights of the steam train and steamboats. There is something for all ages here. Further information available here
