History, culture and wonder are all on show at the . What is probably a childhood memory for almost all South Australians, the museum proves adults and children alike can enjoy what is safely kept behind it's doors.

Impressive whale and dolphin skeletons fill the foyer that leads to the impressive collection of worldwide animals. The displays are informative, but like the whole museum add something special such as story of the lion on display that originally lived at the Adelaide Zoo. These insights into the exhibits show how the curation of the museum still has a strong focus on South Australian history through all its artifacts.

The extensive collection of Australian Aboriginal art and artifacts show a detailed look into the hitstory of Adelaide's traditional Kaurna people. This exhibit shows how the Kaurna people are an important part of Adelaide's past, present and future and looks at many aspects of their culture. The also features the Pacific Cultures Gallery which similarly explores the cultures of our close neighbours from many different Pacific Islands.

The South Australian Biodiversity Gallery is another very informative exhibit that features almost every imaginable South Australian animal, from land, sky or sea. Some will squeal at the spiders and marvel at our unique marsupials, some may even shed a tear in the emotional section dedicated to our extinct animals. This exhibit exemplifies the Museum of South Australia's use of interactivity with touch screen computers, drawers of other exciting specimens and interesting viewing locations to best discover the animals of the world around you.

Other exhibits include ancient fossils that tell a much older story of South Australian history and an ice wall that helps detail the journey of Sir Douglas Mawson through Antartica. One of the most exciting collections is the Ancient Egypt collection, complete with real life mummies, artifacts and a casting of the Rosetta Stone.

There is something for everyone to see at the and something for everyone to learn. Take your kids along and you'll be surprised by how much they learn, or do it as a solo trip. I recommend at least once visiting the museum by yourself with a good playlist and a pair of headphones, it is quite a surreal experience to encounter so many different worlds while in your own bubble.

For more information visit the museum website , or head to North Terrace and check it out for yourself.
