Soundwave is a music festival organised every year in major cities across Australia. It is going to be its 8th birthday and that's why the organisers have gathered the very best of both Australian and world rock, punk and metal scene. The line-up consists of 94 bands including Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold, Korn and Megadeth. As you may guess, it will be extremely hard to review all of them so I want to take a different approach. With less than 20 days away, I want to review some of the other artists rather than the major ones. And which ones can be more perfect than our very own Australian pride - Deez Nuts and I Killed The Prom Queen. So lets do this!

First, I want to set it off with a band well-known in Australia and lately across Europe and the United States - Deez Nuts. With an ever-changing number of members, one of the most recognisable and appealing is their frontman - JJ Peters. A former drummer for the next band we're reviewing - I Killed The Prom Queen, JJ has his own particular... Lets say charm. With a body completely covered with tattoos this guy is not exactly a role model. He sure knows how to entertain a crowd, though. And 8 years in the making and hundreds of shows across the globe later, Deez Nuts have proven themselves and the fusion of hip hop, hardcore punk and heavy metal, as one of the must-hears on Soundwave 2014.

Deez Nuts are the rookies on this list, though. With the next performers we're going to the roots. The roots that inspired so many kids to form their own bands and start touring across the world. Parkway Drive, The Comeback Kid, Confession and major metal groups from outside of Australia like Of Mice and Men admit these guys were a major influence when they have created their music.

This band is called I Killed The Prom Queen. Ever since they've formed in the early 00's, just their name is a synonym of passion and greatness. Even though the band went on hiatus for almost 4 years and just one of their founding members is still a part of this, I Killed The Prom Queen have a lot more to offer us. The announcement of their new and highly anticipated album "Beloved" and the fact that it will come out just a week before the festival makes I Killed The Prom Queens another band that every hardcore fan should go, see and sing their throat out.
