How do you solve a problem like Maria? Well, that depends on whether you think she is a problem! Maria couldn't be contained. She was passionate, loving and free, and her infectious personality warmed the hearts of the stern widowed Captain von Trapp and his seven children.

Inspired by the lives of the actual von Trapp family, The Sound of Music tells the heartwarming story of the fun-loving governess, Maria, who re-introduces the von Trapp family to music. This iconic musical is filled with some of the most famous songs ever performed on stage. These unforgettable favourites include My Favorite Things, Edelweiss, Do-Re-Mi, Sixteen Going On Seventeen,The Lonely Goatherd, Climb Ev'ry Mountain and the title song, The Sound of Music.

Producers Andrew Lloyd Webber, John Frost, David Ian and the Really Useful Group are thrilled with their spectacular Australian cast. "We have assembled a sensational cast to play these iconic roles. Cameron Daddo will be a wonderfully strong and stern Captain, and Amy Lehpamer, already with several musical roles to her name, will leap to stardom as Maria. We're very pleased to be working with Marina Prior again, and to bring Lorraine Bayly to musical theatre audiences. And we're especially pleased to bring acclaimed opera star Jacqui Dark to the musical stage."

Of course the children are the little stars of the show- little in stature, that is, but huge in talent. The producers boast "We have assembled an extraordinary cast of young stars to play the von Trapp children. We had over 800 children audition last month and we were absolutely blown away by the talent."

There will be two different casts of alternating Perth von Trapp children. These incredibly talented children are- Sebastian Coe (11 years old) and Sebastian Cruse (13) playing Frederick. The role of Louisa will be shared by twins, Maddison and Bianca Thomas (15). Thomas Denver (12) and Austin Matthews (11) will be playing Kurt and Brigitta will be played by Saoirse Gerrish (11) and Remy Hanson (12). Playing Marta will be Ava Sharp (10) and Claudia Drinkwater (11) and the littlest von Trapp family member, Gretl, will be played by Luca Priolo (6) and Taisen Carlino (8).
