Much More than Just a Musical Comedy
"Halliday is a talented pianist, songwriter and performer with stamina to match." – WeekendNotes, 2014.
When I saw Bryce Halliday's -The Bryce is Right show, he demonstrated his mega ability to sustain and fast paced and demanding intellectual monologue. SOUND HuMAN is his new musical comedy show that takes things to the next level.
SOUND HuMAN is an Award Winning Cabaret by Bryce Halliday being played at Melbourne's Newest Boutique Live Music Destination, Dr Sugar. With only a keyboard, a ukulele, and over 130 sound effects Bryce has produced yet another thoughtful stand-up comedy with engaging sound art. He has done it again and got the audience thinking about the strange, mindless habits and activities of humans.
Bryce has creatively combined a love of music with his social and political commentary where no one and no human act can escape his critique. The result is poignant and hilarious, particularly when the subject of his wit and amateur psychological assessment of himself and fellow Nowraians.
Bryce is observant and scrutinises all that makes us human. I learnt what god was good at and a few home truths. His assertion that 'no one teaches you any important s#*t' is confronting for teachers and parents alike. It had me reflecting on my life! He's right when he says that life's lessons are learnt on social media; think about it or go and see him for more details.
It's seems a bit deep for a comical musical but you may discover the truth to being human, the reason for your sexual repression and more importantly the secret of traffic lights!
Of course there is some audience participation but don't be afraid. This is a show for all ages and is not offensive.
Afterwards I met a couple of other audience members who had come back two nights in a row. I was surprised to find the lady who had laughed the most had been the night before. Another commented that he was very talented and yet another loved his voice. I actually enjoyed him having the time of his life dancing.
If you like the sound of one hour of original songs, sketches, sound art and comedy with some trademark piano ditties' then you need to see Bryce Halliday.
