I've always loved the beach and meditation. Since I had my daughter, I've had very little time for either. When I saw Merryn's Soul Safari meditation adventure walks for women, I became intrigued by the thought of doing a 2-hour meditative walk along Sydney's beautiful Northern Beaches coastline. I knew I could manage a 2-hour 'retreat' while my daughter was at child care.

Soul Safaris are 2-hour meditation adventure walks and weekend retreats led by Merryn on Sydney's Northern Beaches and the Central Coast of NSW.

The walks take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

This particular walk began at North Harbour Reserve and is part of the Manly to Spit Bridge scenic walk. I was very excited to see this beautiful area as I had never actually done this track.

When I met Merryn, the founder of Soul Safaris , I was immediately impressed by her demeanour. She had a calm clear gaze and compassion radiated from her face.

Merryn has an incredible story of surviving aggressive breast cancer at the age of 37 and the breakdown of her marriage. In the aftermath of this, she began meditating and learning her true life purpose was to guide others on their spiritual journey through these meditative walks. She offers free walks on Fridays for women who have had a cancer diagnosis.

There were three of us on the walk and the energy felt friendly, easy going and companionable.

At times, we all shared things going on in our lives and Merryn was there to really honour what was going on for each of us and just be present with what we were saying. She did not try to fix or remedy the situation - just having her presence there felt wonderful.

She also shared so much of the history of the Northern Beaches on the walk and Aboriginal wisdom that she has learned through spending time with Aboriginal elders in the community.

At the end of the walk, we sat in the park to meditate. I was really able to relax hearing Merryn's soothing voice guide us through the meditation. This was a wonderful ending to a rigorous walk. I really enjoyed combining exercise with nature and meditation. It was the perfect combination for my busy, stressed-out life and it allowed me to take a moment to breathe and be present.

Merryn also shared that she is a contestant on Stars of the Beaches and is having a fundraiser walk open to both men and women on Friday March 30th from 10am-12pm to raise money for Cancer Awareness and this event.

This will be a very special walk through the beautiful Warriewood Wetlands to the Irrawong waterfall to commemorate those who have passed and honour those who have survived cancer. Go here to learn more details about the walk and register.

I thank Merryn for offering these Soul Safaris for Women and if you have a chance go on one of her walks, it is an incredibly enriching experience that will leave you feeling so much better than when you started. Mention this article to receive 50% off your first walk.
