Cocktails Fine Wine and Angus Rump Steak
Sotto Sopra, which means upside-down in Italian, or under and over, is positioned on Pittwater Rd, a busy street Cnr at Northern Beaches Newport. Sotto Sopra is a relaxed Italian trattoria cooking with an extensive Italian wine and aperitif list to match.

A very Good Negroni

They have an inspirational Italian wood-fired menu with wagyu and Angus beef steaks, chicken cacciatora, wood-roasted potatoes with garlic and rosemary, and seafood pies

We started with a couple of Italian cocktails while deciding what to have from the menu; a Negroni for me, quite simply the perfect Italian cocktail and a Bellini peach cocktail.

We started with a Crudo di Ricciola – with Kingfish pine nuts, basil and parmesan chips. For me, not to be outdone, Carpaccio di cervo - Venison carpaccio grilled baby corn, Pecorino, horseradish and lemon.

Service was brilliant and there was a big flowing wine list featuring varieties from Sicily, Tuscany and some Aussie whites and reds also.

For the mains, we could not go past the steak Tagliata di Black Angus - a wood-fired Black Angus rump cap on with green peppers.

We shared the Duck and Carrott Ravioli. We ordered an extra big plate to share around as it did not come as a main.

We could not go past this dessert; Torta "sottosopra" al Limoncello e Fragole - Sotto Sopra's woodfired caramelised seasonal tart with
puff pastry, Limoncello cremeux, strawberry and strawberry sorbet (for two).
