Simple yet filling meals in the heart of Coolum Beach
If a simple feed is all you need when out and about in Coolum then I recommend Sorrento's By The Beach. Just the look of the Coolum Esplanade restaurant had me drawn in - it matched the feel of Coolum very well and I could tell it was much loved by the locals.

Being by the beach I loved the relaxed atmosphere that Sorrento's had. From our chair outside under the trees, we could look straight across the road into Tickle Park and the beach beyond that.

The menu here had plenty to offer and made the choice for us quite difficult. For breakfast, they seemed to have everything including eggs, pancakes, muesli, toast, omelettes and more. The lunch menu looked even busier - they had sandwiches, wraps, fish and chips and even sushi.

Since it was breakfast I ended up going with the three egg omelette with tasty cheese, ham, baked spinach leaves, tomato and toast ($13.95). My partner went for the two poached eggs with baby spinach, fetta cheese, pesto sauce, grilled tomato and toast ($11.95). Both sounded delicious and we weren't wrong.

The food here was very simple, but for the prices I wasn't all that surprised. That's not saying it was bad at all, just that it isn't something you'd expect in a flash restaurant in the city. It was very tasty and left me satisfied with my choice.

The coffee on the other hand could have been better I felt. My cappuccino was lacking that kick I've come to expect. My partner also complained that her espresso cup hadn't been very well cleaned. We shared a juice as well and were much more pleased with that. I could tell our watermelon, passionfruit and apple juice ($6.90) was very fresh - it was much more desirable than the coffees were.

For the cheap price, I got exactly what I expected from Sorrento's By The Beach - a simple yet filling meal. It's a nice place on Coolum Beach.

Your Comment
My husband thought we would have our lunch at Sorrento's today. I'm sorry to say it was the worst hamburger I have ever experienced. The bread roll was not toasted as advertised and the filling was mainly lettuce and onions. My husbands chicken burger was no better. Customer service left a lot to be desired also.

I agree with the comment below in regards to service and less then average food. Go somewhere else!
