Everything old is new again, which is the case with Sonic the Hedgehog. Spanning decades, Sonic has lit up our screens in video game form, animation and now, his very own live-action movie!

On the run since he was a baby hedgehog, Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz) is now living on Earth, hiding from those that wish to exploit his gift of super speed. Living on the outskirts of a small town, he manages to keep from being discovered by living a very secluded and lonely life. That is, until an accidental energy surge, caused by Sonic, shuts down the entire town and alerts Dr Robotnik (played by Jim Carrey), a callous and inhumane sociopath hellbent on accomplishing his goals regardless of the cost, to a potentially new and unlimited energy source.

Sonic must now come out of hiding and partner up with local sheriff Tom (James Marsden) to save the town and help Sonic escape the evil clutches of Dr Robotnik who will stop at nothing to harness the power that Sonic possesses.

Whether you're a new fan or old, looking to grab a nostalgia fix, Sonic delivers. Armed with plenty of action, laughs and even a few moments that may tug on the old heartstrings, I enjoyed this movie a lot more than I expected to.
