Song Fa Bak Kut Teh has been awarded the Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand for many years, and it's not hard to see why. Their Teochew-style bak kut teh soup dish comprises high-quality pork simmered with garlic and white pepper until tender. The broth is clear, peppery and full of flavour. The type of meat is your choice. We ordered pork ribs and pork tenderloin, but my preference would be pork ribs, as the meat literally falls off the bone.
A number of braised dishes, stewed with aromatic spices, are available too. These include pig's trotter, intestine, chicken feet, etc. Needless to say, none appealed to me. For sides, however, we got salted vegetables, dough fritters and rice - a nice complement to our meal. The full menu can be found
here .
Song Fa Bak Kut Teh has quite a few outlets across Singapore. We visited the one at Chinatown Point, which is easily accessible by MRT. Opening hours are from 11am on weekdays and 10:30am on weekends. For further information, check out
