Son of Burch on McKinnon Road is a great cafe to call by for a visit. The 'offspring' of Mr Burch cafe just on down the road, Son of Burch has a great number of things going for it.
First, just like Sushi Factory in Bentleigh, this Son of Burch is located right by the station. For those running late to work, darting home before heading back out for an evening - or even keen to hop off a peak hour train for a quality coffee or bite to eat - Son of Burch is well placed for such ventures.
Walking into the bright and breezy cafe you'll instantly see the sizeable illustration adorning the wall. As distinct from an afterthought this is a deliberate showcase from the same owners who took such care with the image presented down the road at Mr Burch.

In turn, heading on out the back will find more art in the rear courtyard. Alongside some whimsical wall pieces, the red brick and pot plants add greatly to the cafe's atmosphere and affirm Son of Burch would not be out of place if located in Brunswick, Fitzroy or any of the other inner-city suburbs that master 'cafe cool' so well. Yet, Son of Burch is not located in the inner-city but McKinnon, and doing a great deal to drum up and propel along the local coffee scene.

This is evidenced in the wide variety of options on offer when rolling by for a latte. Alongside the usual varieties of latte, cappuccino and Co., almond milk and fresh beans for grinding also feature in house. In turn, there is also a wide variety of sweets and sandwiches on offer to compliment your coffee and visit.
