Though information is sparse and mostly dated last year on their Facebook page, and website links leading no where, I cannot speak highly enough about the 2017 10th annual Somers Winter Market on the 26th of August at the Coolart Wetlands and Homestead Reserve.
Having written about and been to it in 2014, reviewed it in the same year, again in 2015 and 2016, I can unequivocally say it's a market well worth the annual wait. There'll be market stalls filled with boutique and hand made goodies, entertainment and fun times to be had, not to mention a relaxing country feel; a mini getaway from the hubbub of the city to the idyllic seaside hamlet of Somers.
Do however keep in mind that there are generally literally thousands of people who visit the market and you'd be fighting for parking, so get there early. Perhaps you'll be lucky enough to experience the Rotary crew shuttling patrons back and forth from parking areas further afield like in the past.
You can be sure there'll be lots to keep you entertained and amused. Be prepared to stay there for the long haul for a relaxing yet engaging experience, in an atmosphere where history and conservation meet. As the market sprawls around the tranquil grounds of the Coolart Wetlands & Homestead, you'll be able to explore the magnificent late Victorian homestead, feast on delicious winter foods, browse the beautiful handmade market stalls and enjoy some great live entertainment.
All proceeds raised go towards a good cause, the local Somers Pre-school. Keep checking their Facebook page for updates closer to time, but for now, mark that date clearly in your diary for this amazing event.
