Autism West are holding a Team Sprint Cup, which is a swimming relay event that helps to raise awareness about autism, as well as raising funds for Autism West.

UNDERSTANDING AUTISM**
I have a particular interest in Autism, having a grandson who is autistic, and requires a lot of patience and understanding.

Probably the best way to explain Autism is to watch a few videos and I have picked some that will explain the illness to those who are lucky enough not to be familiar with the daily life of living with someone with this disability.

They will actually show you some of the everyday challenges that face people with Autism.

The following video clip gives you SOME idea of autism and the work that Autism West do in our Community.

Although the following clip is a long one, it is well worth watching if you do not know a lot about autism. It shows you some of the problems these children/adults have, and it is a touching video.

HISTORY OF AUTISM WEST**
Autism West does not receive any Government funding, so in order to provide help to many parents and children, they rely solely on the support they get from the public.

They also receive corporate funding which goes a long way towards helping people in distress, and current figures in Australia state that about one in every hundred people will have some form of Autism.

THE EVENT**
Here is a short clip about the 2016 Autism West Team Sprint Cup for last year, 2016.

The event this year will be the 11th time it has been held in Western Australia and they are aiming at raising at least $20,000 from this year's event.
