There are some days that just go completely wrong from the get go. I had one just the other day. Woke up, stabbed my foot with a pin that I must have carelessly dropped on the floor the previous day, broke my toothbrush head of its holder and then, because I was so tired, sat on my toilet forgetting that I had left the toilet seat down. And this was just the beginning of my morning.

[ADVERT]Ever had a day like that? When you just think stuff my life, among other choices of wording?

It sparked an idea in my head – what are all the little things in life we should appreciate but forget about when our day takes a bad turn? The little in things in life that just make you feel so good inside, and happy to be alive. This new year of 2013, I want to live life more aware and happier than last year. I've put a list of 20 simple moments I love about life for days coming when it may seem things are going a little topsy-turvy. They're in no particular order.

1 BUBBLE BATHS
Having a nice, warm bubble bath to warm up after being outside in the rain or a hard day at work to relax.

2 MASSAGES
My favourite in particular is getting a head massage - anywhere, anytime.

3 LOVED ONES
• Those quiet (and sometimes not so quiet) moments alone with the people you love - your partner, family and friends.
• Hugging someone.

4 EXERCISE
That surge of a mixture of adrenaline, energy and endorphins that comes after a good workout.

5 LIP BALM
Applying lip balm to chapped lips, totally soothing!

6 AROMATHERAPY
• Smelling aromatherapy oils burning around your house.
• Using them when you travel.

7 HOT SHOWERS
• After doing something that leaves you feeling dirty like a day out on a boat or outdoor activities like hiking on a sunny day, nothing feels better in that moment than a nice, hot shower.

8 GREEN TEA
I can't help but love drinking green tea when I'm feeling bloated after a big meal.

9 SWIMMING POOLS
I bet my friends in Queensland can especially agree with me right now that, with temperature reaching the late 30s to early 40s, diving into a swimming pool on a hot, summers day is one of the best feelings around!

10 REMEMBER YOUR LONG-TERM GOALS
The feeling when you've accomplished something you've wanted to do for a long time - graduating, finishing a novel, landing your dream job etc.

11 FOOT SPAS
A foot spa after standing in those tight, uncomfortable office heels all day is a godsend for all of us working ladies.

12 PEDICURES
Pulling out an ingrown toenail doesn't seem like one of the first things that come to mind, but when it's actually out, you can't believe how much better you feel.

13 COLD DRINKS
"I'll have that with extra ice, thanks". Drinking a cold water, heck even a cold Coke. I'm not usually a fan of Coke but when you're super thirsty it's so refreshing!

14 MUSIC
Playing an instrument and experiencing 'flow' aka that peace within every note of music. Experiencing music can be one of the best moments in life to cherish, even listening to your favourite songs on your mp3 player.

15 ANIMALS
Playing with your furry family members can be such a peaceful and joyous experience. It's so simple but can bring a lot of happiness and meaning into our lives. Walking the dogs, playpen time for the guinea pigs, watching your cats doing random funny things, etc, are all simple moments to love in life.

16 LAUGHTER
A joke shared with a friend; something you heard on the radio; watching your favourite comedy - laughter is one the best feelings around, and it's also the best medicine for a dreary day.

17 THE GREAT OUTDOORS
Having a picnic outside, smelling the flowers at the local botanical gardens, being outdoors and feeling close to nature brings you down to earth – literally. Reminds us how lucky we are to be alive today.

18 CHOCOLATE
Need I say more?

19 FINDING SOMETHING YOU THOUGHT YOU DIDN'T HAVE
The best example of this is like what happened to me today, when I found $50 I didn't even know I had in an old wallet while cleaning out my closet. Score! Other examples would be when you're doing a do-it-yourself project and you realise you have all the ingredients at home without having to spend a penny - double score, got to love that feeling!

20 DANCING
Some people hate dancing in public, but everyone loves dancing when they're by themselves, admit it! If you disagree, try it, put on a jam and dance at home on your own - three minutes in and I'm sure you'll be giggling.
