Brisbane has a funny bone and it is tickled once again by a diverse bunch of comedians at the BrisFunnyFest 2018. A show worth a mention this year is Some Kind of Wonder by comedy duo, Marcus Davis and Jonny Haselam, held in the cosy Spring Hill venue of Holey Moly Espresso Cafe. This is a great venue to relax or bring along uptight workmates to let out some giggles and gasps.
From the comfy seating around the main stage, you can order a light supper from a modern Australian menu and order cafe-style drinks (mostly non-alcoholic) with bathroom facilities next door at the Alliance Hotel & Restaurant. On the topic of housekeeping, did you know that laundry detergent containers originated from a cylinder paper toilet roll? If you are confused, you may want to stick around for the whole hole theory by Marcus Davis at Some Kind of Wonder .
After the interval, Jonny Haselam erupts on to stage with a musical parody, based on the characters of the awkward Bachelor. There were peals of laughter from the audience and a high level of participation in the interactive show, which was a credit to the chosen venue. Both comedians are Raw Comedy State Finalists who have eked out their niche in comedy and together they are skilled at keeping the audience entertained, from the beginning of the show to the feel-good finale that wraps up comedy hour.
