I recently attended a group meditation session with Donna Sue Robson of Jamie Natural Health and Healing. Donna holds sacred-earth meditations every equinox and solstice in Melbourne's Eastern belt and holds weekly guided meditation classes in Kew. I participated in this 2017 Spring Equinox Healing-Meditation.

When I arrived, the room felt welcoming and relaxing. I was offered a warming cup of tea and there were platters of food, which was a nice way to casually meet the group before the session started.

The room was set up with yoga mats, blankets and cushions, incense, crystals, essential oils, as well as crystal bowls and some large chimes. We were asked to make ourselves feel comfortable and even offered a chair if we preferred. After some introductions, we were asked to write down our concerns or the areas upon which we wanted to focus healing, be it something personal, or in the world. Those 'keywords' were then placed in a central crystal bowl. This centre-piece holds the group intention and energetically connects the group and strengthens the healing mission. It was up to us if we shared what we wrote with the group or not.

Donna explained that there are many styles of meditation. The Jamie style is pretty simple – 'there are no rules'. She said that everyone is free to experience energy and participate in a way that makes them feel connected and comfortable and that the experience will be different for everyone. Speaking to people afterwards, that was definitely the case.

We took a card from one of two piles and were told that if two cards merited pick-up, then take both. Two cards came for me, I picked "Angel of Pleasure – take pleasure in the things you do" and "Angel of the Universe – You are being encouraged to expand your thinking". It was suggested that these are the issues current to us now and that is what our meditation would address. I could relate to that and so the scene was set.

The lights were dimmed as the meditation began. Donna plays four quartz crystal bowls (which are all chakra-tuned and made at Nasa) as she channels the meditation. They make a surprisingly relaxing sound.

It is a guided meditation and highly visual which stimulates the 3rd Eye. The voice-channelled story-telling is general enough for participants to follow their own path, and yet unites the group to be able to deliver energy and healing. The intent of the Equinox healing (and other meditation-healings at sacred Earth times) is to spread healing energy to each other and throughout the world.

The meditation starts with a basic chakra grounding and Donna ends by making sure that all participants are aligned in time and place. We had the opportunity share our meditation experiences, and by listening to others, we gained from their insights too.

Donna describes this style of meditation as 'mindful meditation' which essentially means 'awareness without judgement'. The intention is not to empty the mind with 'complete no-thought or stillness'' but rather, to make conscious that which is subconscious. This meditation is 'conscious meditation', designed to raise your consciousness and vibration.'

To wind-up, we did an exercise to help understand how to use energy to rebalance and realign. Donna said "that understanding how to 'balance' is what Equinox is all about". I was really surprised with this experience, some people saw colours, but I felt heat.

The meditation was followed by a light supper and chat as sharing food creates a relaxed vibe and is very much a part of the sacred energy exchange.

The equinox and solstice meditations have a dual purpose: to relax and help participants; and to send energy to troubled spots of the world. It's personal and connects to the bigger picture. Where the group energetically travels, is very much guided by the original 'keywords' that have set the healing intention. We also used the energy of Spring Equinox itself, which is to activate and manage new beginnings, change and transformation.

These are held four times a year at venues across Melbourne's Eastern region.

Donna has been running meditation classes and healings for the last 14 years. The type of energy healing consultancy that Donna has pioneered is called Vibrational Balancing, which relies upon refined channelling skills. Donna also uses her channelling skills in consultations, which ensures a pure way to find metaphysical and emotional causes behind imbalances.

She also teaches channelling and automatic writing courses. The idea of channelling and its connection to spiritual healing and meditation is to keep the guidance pure, and judgement-free.
