In the intimate setting of the Glenview, Solitude Art, Art Gallery & Studio, get to meet artist and owner Darren Trebilco. Darren is the man of colour. Not only do his paintings ooze with colour but he often does as well if you catch him at work at the easel in his paint splattered clothes and shoes.
Darren literally lets you into his life of colour as his studio and house are attached to the gallery.
Solitude Art was born in 2010 when Darren decided to concentrate on his fine art after dabbling in graphic art and photography. Since then the vision has blossomed into what you find today at the beautiful new Gallery and Studio in Glenview.
Darren's style is contemporary and very expressionist. His work is full of dynamic energy, colour, and texture with varied subject matter. People visiting have often had emotional experiences in reaction to his powerful pieces.
When I visited he had just completed "Lazarus" – a perfect example of his style – powerful and colourful. But don't expect to see "Lazarus" as he has just sold straight off the easel to a collector in Brisbane. Don't worry there are plenty of other amazing pieces of art to see and purchase. An advantage of visiting the Solitude Art Gallery is that you get to purchase directly from the artist so there are no commissions involved.
Darren Trebilco is an artist with big dreams. He has not only opened his own gallery this year but also entered the Archibald Portrait Prize and is exhibiting extensively around South East Queensland. The next exhibition in Brisbane opens 20/9/2013 – see his facebook page for more details.
So if you are looking for somewhere refreshing and fascinating to visit, on your way to or from the Sunshine Coast, turn off at Aussie World and make your way down to 163 Glenview Rd and look for the Solitude Art sign about 1.2 kms on the left. There is parking on site and a big welcome for you on arrival. You will enjoy and remember your visit and experience Darren Trebilco's world of colour.
