From scaloppini to pasta to pizza, so much choice
I can't wait until this restaurant reopens. The Soho has fab food with stunning views right on the edge of the Yarra River. The stunning skyline of Melbourne reflects on the water, especially at sunset. You can be toasty warm inside or comfy outside on the waterfront deck. And it is always busy. We had a fab lunch there, after a lovely long walk along the Yarra.
The menu caters for all tastes, and the food is prepared to exacting standards. They are a feast for the eyes and tongue.
Robust menu appeals to all
We started with a mouth-watering garlic focaccia with spiced mozzarella topping. The fight was on for second helpings.
We followed with the scrumptious main offerings on the seasonal menu. It is lovely that the menu changes based on the season and showcases the freshest ingredients at the time.
My partner had slow-cooked ribs topped with baby carrots and a jus sauce. According to him, they were melt in the mouth delicious.
I went for the veal scallops with roasted potatoes. Now, I usually cannot eat a full meal. I fill up very quickly as I savour things. My partner sacrifices himself regularly to ensure we do not "waste not, want not".
Local wines are featured on the wine list and complement the menu perfectly. But if you prefer, you can lash out on European specialty wines and tingle your taste buds with new and refreshing sparkling.
Extensive wine list with European touch
The Soho is easy to find on the edge of the Yarra River and is beautifully appointed. It is also meticulous. Considering the turn over in the busy area of Melbourne, this is a first-rate show.
You may need to book ahead to ensure you get a chance at the Chef's specials. It is very popular, especially for weekend brunches in the warm Melbourne sun. But it is a glorious place to share with friends no matter the weather.
