A Spritz is a wine based cocktail usually served as an aperitif in North East Italy. Sometimes referred to as a "Veneziano", it originated in the Veneto region in the 1800's and is generally prepared with prosecco wine, a bitter liqueur such as Campari & topped off with sparkling mineral water, ice and perhaps a slice of orange. It is a very refreshing and tasty mix with a bitter sweet tang and I have enjoyed many of them. In fact, years ago, a friend and I spent many days and nights in Bondi concocting & taste-testing our own version, which we named "Campavino" amidst dreams of bottling, selling and world domination of the pre-mixed drinks market. Looks like it was a brilliant idea after all and I am very happy to have recently discovered "Sofi Spritz".
Sofi is crafted by a 5th generation wine maker using Riesling from Eden Valley, blood orange, bitters and a dash of sparkling water. Inspired by the Veneto Spritz, Sofi is all Australian and uses all natural ingredients. You can read more about the Sofi Spritz story here or visit their webpage.
