While researching places to eat in Sydney, I found out about the Soda Factory in Surry Hills. It's a US-style diner and bar serving American favourites and retro cocktails, with booth seats, live music and DJs, so naturally, I wanted to visit the place!
It was a little hard to find the place! In fact, we walked straight past it, as I didn't realise that you needed to enter through the Coca-Cola machine to get in. But when we did finally figure it out, it was worth it, and it kinda made the night a little more fun for us.
We went earlier in the evening, so it was easy to grab a seat close to the stage where they play live music on Saturday nights. With our seats sorted, we turned our attention to organising some retro cocktails. I love sweet things so I was naturally drawn to the Hubba Bubba cocktail (Bubblegum infused vodka, chambered, coconut syrup and lemon). While my partner picked the Strawberries and Cream (Vodka, strawberry puree, cocao, vanilla syrup, strawberry foam and lemon).
Both of the cocktails were simply delicious and I loved them both. After some cocktails, we decided to try some of the food and we both got a burger. Although there were a number of items in the menu, including hot dogs, and mexi-salad, I felt we couldn't go wrong with a classic American burger.
Having finished our burgers, we decided to try some more cocktails. I ordered the Lover's Letter (Gin, lychee liqueur, violet, lavender syrup and lemon). While my partner ordered the Cheery Bomb ( Rye, ginger liqueur, homemade cheery cola, cinnamon syrup and lemon). Although they were both delicious, I defintnently preferred the Lover's Letter, as it was super easy to drink and tasted amazing.
We decided to end the night with another of the Soda Factory's favourite - a Soda Float. These drinks include ice-cream, soft drink and of course alcohol. They were delicious, and also the perfect thing to end our evening in an American style bar!
