World social media day takes place on June 30th every year to celebrate the way we do business and socialize with others. This year, a series of events from Adelaide City Council, The Barossa Council, Business Enterprise Centres and independent experts are upping the ante to 'social media month'. By July 16, the social media engine will be in full swing when one of the worlds' premiere social media tourism events, #SoMeT14AU comes to the Barossa.

Not just the domain of 'selfies' and cat memes, social media has demonstrated that it is a highly valuable marketing and communication tool. Facebook alone reported 1.28 billion, yes BILLION, monthly active users as of March 31, 2014, that's a lot of potential customers for a business to be able to reach online, and people who can discover you!

After a successful first venture in March this year, Adelaide City Council will run the second TechXPO in the Adelaide City Digital Hub and City Library to coincide with social media day ( #SMDay) on Monday, June 30th. The focus will be on social media exploration, discussion and fun with presentations about utilizing online reviews, instagram communities, keeping safe online and digital resources. You'll find the Adelaide City Digital Hub and City Library on level 3 of the shiny new Rundle Place building in Rundle Mall. TechXPO runs 10am to 4pm, free entry for all.

As host region of #SoMeT14AU, The Barossa Council have invited TechXPO event organiser, Gadget Coach to bring the TechXPO formula on the road and will be hosting social media expo [LINK=http://bit.ly/TechXpress-Expo
