Forget Piper Street instead head down to the Social Foundry for some real wholesome food and at the same time, support a social enterprise cafe set up to build a nurturing community by imparting work and life skills to young people living in the Macedon Ranges.
Located on the corner at 86 Mollison Street, Kyneton, it's a bright white building with an outdoor lounge, play area and tipi for the kids.
Once inside, you soon get to explore how vast the interior of this once old motor workshop is. There is a lounge room area containing booths and a huge communal table. Here you can sit and chat over a coffee or chai or plug in your computer or meet up with a client over lunch. Whatever the reason, you'll be supporting this 100% not for profit organisation to help mentor those whose opportunities have been limited.
The Social Foundry's focus is on hospitality, conservation land management and woodworking.
This was a lucky find and so glad to have stopped here for lunch. The pumpkin and ricotta focaccia was freshly made, with a drizzle of locally sourced honey.
So next time you're passing through Kyneton, be sure to pop in and support such a great initiative and help to make the world a better place!
