Social Brew Cafe in Pyrmont is already popular with the locals and its delectable menu of international cuisine. Now comes an outside-the-box, seemingly gravity-defying, dessert involving M&M's and waffles.
Thanks to Jono, aka @thebrunchdude (follow him on Instagram), and his teaming up with this wonderful cafe, the M&M Spill has been launched. Bringing the 'wow' factor upon sight, it will blow sweet lovers into heaven upon taste.
I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch (thank you CPM) of this magnificent creation and sit down with the creators and several others to devour it. After many photos, we each tucked into two beautifully fresh waffles with a hint of cinnamon sugar and a scoop of Chantilly cream atop. Around the waffles was a salted caramel sauce with a sprinkling of M&M's, fresh flowers and a jar of milk chocolate and ristretto to drizzle over the top. To the side, a spill of M&M's from a paper cup.
If you want to tone down some of the sweetness then I suggest you pour less of the chocolate and ristretto on it. Now, I'm not going to give away how the spill is created. You'll have to visit Social Brew to find out. It is certainly worth a visit but don't leave it too long, as it will only be around for a month i.e. June.
An amazing treat of a dish, it was well presented and very colourful. You can also replace the Chantilly cream with ice cream should you wish to. The dessert will set you back $22, not much for a piece of heaven, and you could easily share it with someone.
Kudos to these two - the friendly cafe owner (above) and the smiling mastermind Jono (below)
Social Brew is open 7 days for breakfast and lunch (with alcohol too), from 7am to 4.30pm, and can be found next to a grassy area on the corner of Harris Street and Pyrmont Bridge Road. Check out their website for all they offer.
Voted the best cafe in Sydney by Trip Advisor in 2017, it's certainly one to keep an eye on. I look forward to what they come up with next as this is not the first and won't be the last 'out there' creation to surprise the senses.
