Brisbane's arts scene is thriving right now with many redefining their view on the city from the dated cliches that held it back in centuries past. With Sydney and Melbourne pricing their artistic communities out, it's no wonder that the vanguard are moving north to the warmer climes of Brisbane to find an audience for their creative spark.

As such, we're seeing an influx of nights cropping up dedicated to those formats which have less of a pre-defined platform such as music or stand-up comedy. One of the better examples of these events is .

It's a bi-annual social event that is a mixture of programmed performances combined with open mix slots interspersed throughout the evening. This combination of the known and unknown gives an added element of excitement for whatever it is that's happening before your eyes.

It's a space for writers, comedians, poets, actors, lovers of arts, or even just someone with FOMO to come together. It's a place for people to share their art, whether it is the Bee Movie Script Reading, or a slam poem about how great Vena Cava is. Everything plus the kitchen sink.

The organisers are going to great lengths to make an event that is fun at its core so that all those in attendance will have a great time. Their ethos is perfectly summed up in their company name, Vena Cava. A large vein that's return deoxygenated blood from the body into the heart. The beat goes on.
