Sydney has some pretty spectacular beaches on its coastline, one of the best I feel goes to Clovelly beach. With a concrete edged platform to sunbathe on either side of the water and a sandy shoreline it is an ideal place to spend a warm, sunny day that's isn't half as busy as the beaches at Bondi, Bronte or Coogee. It's the perfect place to escape the crowds for a peaceful swim and one of the safest areas to snorkel!

I'm not the strongest swimmer in the world, but at Clovelly I'm able to have a peace of mind from the rocky shore blocking out extremely strong currents and rips that you'll find on any other beach. Obviously, there is still surges to be aware of but nothing to ruin your snorkel or tire you out too quickly. The channel also maintains a surge but visibility, along with weather conditions, allows for great visibility. Also, the added platforms on either side allow you to get right into it, the relatively deep part of Clovelly is easily accessible just be careful of slippery and sharp rocks. You have mass coral life, plenty of fish species to marvel at and you may even be in for a treat and could spot one of the friendly gropers that inhabit the area and delight all swimmers!

So if you have an interest in snorkelling, give Clovelly beach a go. It could even become a new go-to spot. It is perfect for 'weak' swimmers, safe for children or even a beginner to begin exploring the great underwater playground. If you're planning on spend the day aswell, there is a little cafe located on the platform perfect for a drink and a bite to eat.
