Walking back to the car one night we stumbled across the '
Snag Stand ' a hole in the wall type affair which stood out to me. I've always loved Hawker venders and this looked like a quality set up.
Their brochure/Menu boasts, they are proud to use Australia's most respected Artisan Butchers including: Rodriguez Bros, Jonathan's Butchery, Hansa Butchery and Black Forest Smoke House.
Here are a selection of some of the stand outs on the menu:
Wagyu Beef – served on a rustic roll accompanied with butter, garlic mash, herbed gravy and topped with sautéed onions. $9.90. I feel like driving back over there now for one of these babies.
Wagyu Beef and Horseradish – Grilled Wagyu Sausage with Sauteed onions, spicy horse radish mayo and beetroot relish all served on a soft poppy seed roll. $9.90
Australia Fare – Beef and tomato sausage on a toasted brioche roll with sautéed onions, chedder cheese and beerenberg tomato sauce. $7.50
These are just a few of a great selection. There's also the American Classic, Chillidog, Italian Pork Fennel, Greek Lamb, Rosemary and Oregano, Swiss Bratwurst and Vegetarian Spicy Spanish Chorizo.
There's still more, but I thought I'd tell you about the Snag Options & Sides. This is a kind of 'design-your-own-section' you can get a Snag & Roll base for $6.90, where you choose any roll (choice of 3, they also have a gluten free one for a bit extra) and any sausage (about 12 kinds plus a duck one). You can also choose one of several toppings.
Chips for $3.90 (spuds from Tasmania) which come with sea salt, and $1 dipping sauces.
