Smudge, one carrot is quite enough
The King's Fools in association with KXT presents Smudge by two-time Emmy Award winner Rachel Axler (The Daily Show, Parks & Rec, The Veep). See smudge at Kings cross Theatre, a brand new theatre for indie theatre goers in a transfixing intimate space with a state of the art rig.

Smudge, by two-time Emmy Award winner Rachel Axler

The new Kings Cross Theatre is a basic intimate theatre. It's just the right size and fit (with clever use of lights and space) to show off this play.

There's a cast of only three main characters (not counting the baby): Danielle Connor, Kieran Foster and Nick Hunter.

A perfect working life.

It's a dark comedy about parenting and all the emotions (good and bad) thrown up due to it.

LYING TO HIS WIFE
In denial

The acting is great, gripping and fresh. They all do well in the intimate space KXT provides by totally capturing the atmosphere, longing, loneliness, hardship and desperation of parenthood whilst travelling along a bumpy path it kind of shatters their very comfortable lives.

So Alone

This play touches on some tough subjects, in an imaginative way horror, disgust, abandonment, disappointment to name but a few and cleverly depicts how some parents may handle them (which are not all good, but are very honest).

Surprise!

Three actors who can hold your attention for the whole play with a laugh thrown in on more than one occasion is quite an achievement. It's definitely a play to see.

Lying to his wife.

Enjoy a really quirky night out in a cool old hotel theatre. It's quite funny in parts, although not quite as funny as the girls laughing hysterically next to me. Don't you always find that fascinating? What a dead giveaway it is when people laugh because they 'get it' or have experienced what's happening on stage in their own real lives.

Keep Smiling

Check it out. I liked it a lot, it's cleverly done and I'd recommend seeing it.

There are a few interesting bars in the Kings Cross Hotel too. You make your way through them as you climb the stairs to the second level where the theatre is. It's a great venue, close to Kings Cross Station and loads of buses on Oxford Street heading in both directions.

Tickets per person (over 18's only): ADULT $28, CONCESSION $22, GROUPS OF 8 OR MORE $20.
