The acting is great, gripping and fresh. They all do well in the intimate space KXT provides by totally capturing the atmosphere, longing, loneliness, hardship and desperation of parenthood whilst travelling along a bumpy path – it kind of shatters their very comfortable lives.
This play touches on some tough subjects, in an imaginative way — horror, disgust, abandonment, disappointment to name but a few — and cleverly depicts how some parents may handle them (which are not all good, but are very honest).
Enjoy a really quirky night out in a cool old hotel theatre. It's quite funny in parts, although not quite as funny as the girls laughing hysterically next to me. Don't you always find that fascinating? What a dead giveaway it is when people laugh because they 'get it' or have experienced what's happening on stage in their own real lives.
Check it out. I liked it a lot, it's cleverly done and I'd recommend seeing it.
There are a few interesting bars in the Kings Cross Hotel too. You make your way through them as you climb the stairs to the second level where the theatre is. It's a great venue, close to Kings Cross Station and loads of buses on Oxford Street heading in both directions.
