is quite a unique place. They claim "As a 'Smoultstar', you'll enjoy irresistibly delicious food in a happy environment that will make you feel good on the inside for the rest of your day."
I have to say I would agree with this statement. It is not fancy however, the service was friendly and the meals came out in a timely manner.
From the moment you walk into this shop, it is impressive. It is basically a boutique food store and modern delicatessen right in the hub of Maylands. It is surrounded by such greats as Sherbet, Mrs S, and others in this cafe strip.
You can choose from a fantastic range of food that they make themselves. This food indeed looks delicious and although there is no lunch menu, you can actually see all the food and pick from the window.
There are large filled sandwiches, about five different salads, and a large variety of hot food like pies, slices and a lot more.
They also have a speciality range of quality smallgoods, cheeses and all things delish including healthy home-style food to buy and eat at home.
They also have a selection of sweet treats, which they source from the finest in Perth.
This range is also quite large and although I was not going to have a sweet, I could not help myself! Willpower is not my strong point obviously!
They also have a range of jams, pickles, coffee, and more, which is scattered around the walls of the shop.
They have been going for about two years, and at one stage all the tables were taken and there was also a few people lined up for takeaway.
I could not decide between the spinach and ricotta and the cauliflower mac n cheese.
Eventually, I decided on the mac and cheese as this was more unusual.
This costs just $8 and came with a small salad and a dip. It was very good and quite unusual in that it was macaroni in a rissole shape!
My friend ordered a salad which was $13 for a large one and she had the chickpea and cauliflower curry salad, which she said was very good.
I then had a raspberry slice which was really delicious, and cost $6. I had this with a coffee, which although not very hot, was a good coffee.
My friend had the chia pudding and fruit compote, which had fruit layered in several places and she also enjoyed this. This cost $8.95 for a large cup full.
They are open seven days a week and are situated at 186 Whatley Cresent, Maylands. They also do picnic hampers and for bookings, you can phone 9371 9778 or check out their website

It is also dog-friendly&
