Enjoy some dirty blues rock
Formed in 2009, The Smokestack Orchestra is Tal Wallace on guitar and vocals, Dean Hunt on guitar, and Skritch on drums. The night I saw them perform, it was only a two-piece, bringing guitar, vocals and drums, performing dirty blues rock.

The Smokestack Orchestra perform at Blues Rock Riot

Playing in the second Blues, Rock, Riot at X & Y Bar, these guys sounded like a cross between the snowdroppers and Brothers Grim, the blues band, not the writers of folktales. Loving (read crushing on) both bands, I thoroughly enjoyed The Smokestack Orchestra's performance and it got me dancing. There seemed a chasm between the audience and the band through, a lack of connection with the punters, which I put down to an aloofness, possibly a stage persona, from the frontman. Not sure if it's their usual performance style, and I didn't find that it detracted from the music, but it was commented on by one of my live music buddies.
