Somebody get Guinness World Records on the phone because I think I've found the world's biggest breakfast right here on the Sunshine Coast. Sitting down for a meal at in Dicky Beach one weekend recently left me beyond satisfied and needless to say, with a smile on my face.

Found along the main stretch of shops on Beerburrum Street, across from the Dicky Beach Family Holiday Park , Smilers is a great place for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a takeaway coffee. They had a welcoming setting - a couple of bars with stools outside and some tables, chairs and couches inside. The walls were adorned with the artworks of some local artwork which was a nice touch. The staff, as the name of the establishment would have you believe, were also quite friendly.

On my most recent trip to Smilers for breakfast I arrived absolutely ravished following a big morning down on nearby beach. I was in desperate search of a delicious and filling feed. I'm happy to report I found it here.

The choice was simple for me - it had to be the Big Breakfast. That is eggs, crispy bacon, sausage, baked tomato, garlic-thyme, mushrooms, spicy beans, avocado, spinach, chorizo, hash brown, feta, dukkah and hollandaise ($18). It sounded too good to be true, but I just had to have it. After finishing off my cappucinno it arrived - the biggest Big Breakfast I had ever seen.

The plate was giant and filled to the edge - I'm surprised it wasn't a food challenge and my name would be displayed on the wall if I could finish it. Alas, despite my ravenous hunger, even I was unable to polish my plate off. Did I mention the entire meal was delicious? The fetta was a nice touch especially, I thought. My sister on the other hand went with the much more modest Apple Soaked Bircher ($14) and washed it down with grapefruit juice. She was just as happy as I was.

As I said before, Smilers also does lunch and dinner. Breakfast and lunch are seven days a week, dinner is Friday and Saturday nights only with live music on the Fridays (bookings recommended). They had a couple of items on the lunch and dinner menu that definitely caught my eye - the fettuccine di pollo ($15), Smilers steak sandwich ($14.50) and the duck shank salad ($16.50) were some lunch highlights, while dinner had the Moroccan vegetablestTagine ($24), the wild mushroom risotto ($18) and the 225g eye fillet ($34). The restaurant is also BYO and corkage is $5 for bottle wine/six pack beer. I was also pleased to hear Smilers are available for catering.

As corny as it will sound, Smilers really did leave me with a smile on my dial. It was an absolutely delicious and filling meal. I've already got plans to stop by a Friday night soon for dinner and some live music.
