Smashing Fun: A Unique Christmas Experience with My 17-Year-Old Son

When my sister asked what my 17-year-old son Angelo would like for Christmas, I gave her an unexpected answer: "SMASH." Naturally, she was a bit confused. Angelo, with a lot going on in his life with a change in state, house and school, he wanted an outlet for some smashing fun. After moving states and starting a new job, I thought, why not join in the fun too?

The Adventure Begins
We booked the Duo Smash (2 person) session, which offers 30 minutes of pure smashing fun for two people at A$110.00. The session included crockery and safety wear, with additional breakables available for purchase on the day. The facility has a strict rule of allowing only two persons in the Smash Room at a time, and participants must be 16+ years old with parent/guardian supervision.



Smashing Expectations
Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and given a brief safety rundown. They equipped us with our PPE gear, which felt a bit cumbersome on a hot day, but safety first! We had the place to ourselves, which added to the excitement. We started with a container of glassware, each piece begging to be smashed to smithereens.

Of course, they do upsell you on additional breakables. We couldn't resist and bought a big screen TV for the sheer satisfaction of smashing it. Although it didn't shatter as dramatically as we hoped, the experience was still incredibly satisfying.



A Unique Bonding Experience
The thrill of smashing glassware and other items was a perfect way for Angelo to release some pent-up energy. It was a stress reliever and a unique way to bond with my son. We laughed, cheered each other on, and enjoyed the cathartic experience. The 30 minutes flew by, but it was packed with fun and memorable moments.




Practical Information
The Smash Room has plenty of parking, making it worth the drive. The staff ensured we felt safe and comfortable throughout the session. While the PPE gear was a bit warm, it was necessary for our protection and didn't detract from the fun.
